Chantal MATHIEU

Chantal Mathieu followed her training   at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in the harp class of Jacqueline Borot, and the jury awarded her, at age 14,

the first Harp Prize unanimously.

 

Chantal becomes a harp teacher in France,

in Germany, in Spain,   in Switzerland and gives Master Classes all over the world.

Alongside his career in education,

Chantal Mathieu leads a brilliant concert career

and performs as a soloist with the most prestigious orchestras:

the Berlin Philharmonic, theOrchestra of French-speaking Switzerland, I'Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, the Nagoya Symphonic Orchestra, the Seiji Osawa Mito Chamber Orchestra, or the Kol Orchestra of Jerusalem.

 

Chantal Mathieu has received numerous distinctions:

first prize at the Israel International Harp Competition in 1970, prize from the Radio Suisse Romande in 1974,

second prize at the Geneva International Competition in 1974, and finally first prize at the Paris Soloists Guild in 1976

and Claude DEBUSSY prize for the best interpretation of his Sacred and Profane Dances.

 

Passionate about discovering and transcribing new works for her instrument, she founded in 1994

Editions "Georg Musique, Geneva".

 

Chantal does us the honor of being the godmother of our Festival and we thank her warmly.
